Puck Says Tom Hardy Was Booted From MobLand

Puck reports Paramount recently decided not to pick up Hardy for Season 3 after the actor clashed with producers Jez Butterworth and David Glasser, among others, during the making of Season 2.

The report claims Hardy was late to set «a bunch,» frequently asked to give notes on scripts, attempted to change dialogue, and was unhappy with the direction of the show.

Per Puck, Hardy was also said to be displeased over MobLand becoming more of an ensemble series built around Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, and the rest of the cast, instead of remaining centered around him.

Puck adds the situation got so bad Butterworth threatened to quit, according to a source familiar with the matter.

Paramount Reportedly Chose The Producers Over Hardy

The report says Paramount responded by dropping Hardy instead of losing Butterworth.

There is one interesting wrinkle: Puck notes Hardy’s contract included a mutual option for Season 3, meaning Hardy also could have walked away on his own if he wanted.

Reps for Hardy and Paramount declined to comment to Puck.

MobLand Has Been A Big Hit For Paramount+

The reported drama comes as MobLand has been one of Paramount+’s stronger performers outside the Taylor Sheridan machine.

Paramount announced in 2025 the series broke its record as the biggest global series premiere ever, with 2.2 million global viewers on its first day.

The streamer credited the success to the work of Guy Ritchie, Jez Butterworth, Ronan Bennett, David Glasser, and the cast led by Hardy, Mirren, and Brosnan.

MobLand was later renewed for Season 2. The series follows two rival crime families in London, with Hardy’s Harry Da Souza serving as the fixer trying to keep the situation from exploding.

Season 3 Could Look Very Different

Hardy leaving would be a major change for MobLand, since Harry Da Souza has been one of the main selling points of the series from the start.

At the same time, Puck‘s report suggests the show may already be shifting into a broader ensemble piece.

With Mirren and Brosnan playing the heads of the Harrigan family, Paramount may believe MobLand can continue without Hardy if the larger crime family story takes over.

For now, Paramount has not publicly announced Hardy’s exit, and the actor’s side has not commented.

Puck‘s report makes it sound like the Season 3 plan is already being shaped behind the scenes, and Hardy may no longer be part of it.
